Boss IR-2 Helps Deliver Your Signature Sound Consistently

Until fairly recently it was difficult for guitarists to maintain a consistent signature sound across venues. When you went from gig to recording session to practice session, your sound was at the mercy of whatever amps, cabinets, or mic'ing equipment you had on the scene.

The Boss IR-2 pedal helps to change all that. Now you can achieve sonic consistency with a precise combination of amp and cabinet simulation—all in a compact pedal format.

You can think of the Boss IR-2 as a versatile and no-frills amp and cabinet modeler. It is actually a scaled-down version of the more sophisticated Boss IR-200, which is targeted more for home and studio use.

So what do you get?

You get 11 different amp models, from pristine clean to aggressively overdriven sounds. You get 3-band EQ controls, an ambience control, as well as gain and volume.

The amp models are coupled with great sounding cabinet IRs (Impulse Responses) from Celstion Digital.

You also get a built-in effects loop; this enables the IR-2 to play well with other pedals.

According to the Boss website, here is a summary of IR-2's specifications:

"The IR-2 packs the inspiring sounds of classic tube amps and mic'd speaker cabinets in a standard stompbox footprint, giving you easy access to studio-grade tones on quiet stages, fly dates, recording gigs, and practice sessions.

"Backed by decades of BOSS tone expertise, every selection delivers the same expressive nuance and dynamic touch response of a real amp and cabinet. Audio quality is also top-notch, thanks to advanced DSP, 32-bit floating point processing, and a 96 kHz sampling rate."

There's also a headphone jack for monitoring and USB-C connectivity for loading your own cabinet IRs (Impulse Responses).
